Of all application fields, the automotive industry had always very high priority for NEC Electronics’. Catering to the ambitious needs of this industry, a dedicated business unit, the Automotive Business Unit, was created.

 

 

European Interface

Headquartered in Düsseldorf, the Automotive Business Group of NEC Electronics (Europe) is right at the heart of the world’s most challenging automotive market. Its strong team of more than 150 highly motivated employees in a Europe-wide network of automotive Engineering Centres and Sales Offices always keeps a finger on the pulse of the industry. To translate its needs into sophisticated product realities, this team has direct access to the know-how of some 120 chip designers at the European Technology Centre, not to mention the huge potential of about 22,500 colleagues and 7 production facilities of the parent company.

The result is impressive: a significant portion of the automotive microcontroller range was developed entirely in Europe.

Quality Assurance for Extreme Reliability

To achieve supreme quality, a 100-percent burn-in is applied to all automotive microcontrollers during production testing. This process eliminates early failures right from the beginning, ensuring the best possible quality in all products delivered to the customer. Naturally, NEC Electronics is certified to major industry standards, e.g. ISO9000:2000 and TS16949. All product developments for the automotive market are accompanied by PPAP, while product qualification complies with leading standards such as AEC, MIL and JEDEC, providing objective documentation of NEC Electronics’ quality leadership!
