The amount of data transferred over the Internet doubles every year. New technologies come up which even better use existing copper lines and optical fibres. However, price pressure from users and operators dictates lower cost on all parts of transmission systems. So the challenge is to offer solutions which provide the best benefit at a minimum of cost.
