Central Heating Unit (CHU)

The key control component in a heating system enabling programmable control
over the operation of the entire system. The control unit receives data from
the array of sensors from the air temperature / humidity to the water temperature
and communicating and controlling all components of the system, such as the
Burner Control Unit. Dependent on the sophistication of the system the CHU may
also provide direct control of system pumps.
Whatever the level of sophistication required, NEC's range of 8 and 32 bit
micros (78K0/V850) can provide solutions optimised in cost/performance.
Application example:
V850 Series Device Features
- LCD controller/driver on chip from 5 x 4 up to 48 x 48 Segments - For displaying
temperature or control information.
- 10 Bit A/D converter - For water and air temperature measurements.
- Key return ports - For keyboard interface
- UART, SBI or I2C interface - For remote communications.
- 32 kHz real time clock timer unit - For time and 7 day programming.
- High current output, (20mA) - For transistor driving
