NEC Electronics Announces New 32-bit Microcontroller D_Line for Dashboard Applications DUESSELDORF, Germany 10 Feb 2005
NEC Electronics today announced the availability of the 32-bit microcontroller D_Line for the automotive market. The V850ES/DG2 and V850ES/DJ2 are ideal for driver information systems such as instrument clusters including display and diagnostic functions, and suitable for industrial applications where CAN functionality is combined with control-oriented peripherals, in particular high-drive output capabilities. With the D_Line for dashboard applications, NEC Electronics continues its successful family market approach of combining application-specific features with high scalability, following on the success of the F_Line for car body electronics and the S_Line for car audio. The new microcontrollers meet today’s need for high flexibility and choice of variants. The V850ES/DG2 offers 128k flash or mask ROM, with 4 steppers in 100-pin QFP packaging. The V850ES/DJ2 offers 256k flash or mask ROM (modifiable up to 512k), with 6 steppers in 144-pin QFP packaging. The variety of derivatives renders products that fit perfectly to the application requirements, making it easy to change to the next bigger device in case of increased memory demand. Thanks to identical peripherals and pin-to-pin compatibility within one package size, a change during the development phase is an easy task. Up to 16 A/D channels as well as up to seven 16-bit timers complete the feature set tailored for the dashboard market. NEC Electronics’ new SiP technology (system in package) is the basis for the D_Line, which combines an F_Line chip die with a meter controller chip side-by-side in one package. The advantages of this concept are reduced development efforts and shorter time-to-market, thus leading to an excellent price/performance ratio. The entire D_Line requires just a single tool environment. In addition, low cost tools providing debugging capability via N-Wire interface are available. All are qualified for the automotive temperature range from -40 to +85° C. Availability ###
