3SOFT and NEC Electronics Europe present: ProOSEK/time available for NEC Electronics’ V850 Microcontrollers

3SOFT’s time-triggered real-time operating system ProOSEK/time is now available for the NEC Electronics V850 32-bit micro-controller family. This presents users with an especially powerful combination of hardware and software. Engineers developing applications for FlexRay and chassis electronics on the V850 now have access to a standardized operating system. This high-performance controller marks a significant extension to the range of ProOSEK/time target platforms.

ProOSEK/time is 3SOFT’s own and complete realization of the OSEK/VDX time-triggered OS 1.0 standard. It was developed specially for ECUs that have to perform synchronous actions on several micro-controllers. It can be synchronized with a global time as provided by fault-tolerant bus systems like FlexRay. With strictly time-triggered preemptive scheduling, the option of deadline monitoring for all tasks, and a graphical configuration tool for generating kernels, ProOSEK/time offers many features that allow users to develop applications comfortably and quickly. The operating system is completed by additional 3SOFT standard components, e.g. a hardware abstraction layer and the event-triggered real-time ProOSEK operating system which also supports other NEC Electronics products. It can be used by ProOSEK/time as a sub-system.

NEC Electronics offers a huge range of automotive microcontrollers as varied as the applications of the customers — from 8- to 64-bit devices, with CAN, with Flash, Mask ROM or ROM-less. All 32-bit automotive microcontrollers are based on NEC Electronics’ V850 CPU core, including products for applications such as body electronics, dashboards, airbag control, and chassis electronics.

The availability of ProOSEK/time for V850 will allow NEC Electronics’ customers to more easily develop embedded solutions for future chassis and FlexRay systems.
