NEC Electronics Europe achieved ISO14001:2004 CertificationImplementation of environmental management system is completedDuesseldorf, Germany 05 Oct 2005 NEC Electronics Europe announces the successful implementation of their environmental management system for the complete Sales and Marketing organization across Europe including the European Logistic Centre in Neuss and the European Technology Centre in Düsseldorf. TÜV Industries Service GmbH audited the newly established environmental management system and confirmed compliance to the ISO14001:2004 standard. The certification audit was a combined audit to verify the conformance to Quality (ISO9001:2000) as well as Environmental (ISO14001:2004) management system standards. Since 1998 NEC Electronics Europe maintains a Quality Management System (QMS) certified in accordance to the Quality Management Standard ISO9001. When starting activities to implement the requirements for Environmental Management System (EMS) standards, NEC Electronics Europe strived to extend the existing QMS to an Integrated Management System (IMS) covering apart from the standard requirements of ISO9001 also the requirements of ISO14001:2004. As a result of the combined certification audit, TÜV confirmed all requirements of ISO14001:2004 standard were completely implemented into NEC Electronics Europe new Integrated Management System (IMS). Within the scope of an EMS the ISO14001:2004 standard requires establishing, implementing and maintaining a procedure to identify legal and other local, national as well as European requirements, which are applicable to environmental aspects. In cooperation with an external expert for environmental law NEC Electronics Europe created a so called environmental law register to summarize all relevant regulations to be observed and followed by the company. This law register is communicated across concerned levels within the organization to ensure all obligations are individually assigned and fulfilled. As part of the new IMS NEC Electronics Europe created and communicate a detailed action plan for all its members to give full priority to environmental protection including: • Minimize the impact on the environment in all stages of product development, procurement, transportation and disposal • Protect the environment and nature by using sustainable materials for daily work • Minimize the impact on the environment due to recycling and disposal of incidental waste in an ecological way With the implementation of the environmental system NEC Electronics Europe made a major step forward in direction of its extended policy to ensure employees awareness and to increase their sensitivity towards the environment and the preservation of non renewable resources in design, in the realization of products, solutions and services and in every company activity. ### ###
