New high-speed optocouplers from NEC Electronics

NEC Electronics (Europe) is offering two new high-speed optocouplers. The single- and dual-channel devices, capable of 10 Mbps transfer speed, are supplied in an SO8 package. They can be used for DC/DC converters, measuring equipment, motor control, communication bus systems and many other applications and are suitable for harsh industrial environments.

Both couplers have a minimum CMRR of 10 kV/µs, with typical values of 20 kV/µs. The PS9814 has an open collector output for increased flexibility in circuit design. The maximum pulse width distortion |tPHL to tPLH| for both types is less than 50 ns, with typical values of only about 3 ns.

The couplers typically require a supply voltage of 5 Vcc (7 Vcc max.) on the output detector side. The isolation voltage is 2500 Vr.m.s.

The couplers are supplied in 8-pin small outline package (SO8 package), with a pin-to-pin distance of 1.27 mm for compact designs.

International safety certificates are available.

There are two coupler versions. The PS9814-1 and PS9814-2 are suitable for lead soldering, the PS9814-1-A and PS9814-2-A for lead-free soldering.
