NEC Electronics Europe to sponsor Doulos ARM SoC Design Workshop DUESSELDORF, Germany, 08 Oct 2004NEC Electronics (Europe) GmbH, a major player in the area of ARM-based SoC design, has announced a unique opportunity for engineers to get top class training in SoC design using ARM and receive an NEC Electronics SoCLite development board. NEC Electronics Europe is sponsoring a 4-day ARM SoC Design Workshop from Doulos – an ARM Training Partner and market leader for independent design and verification training: The first 10 applicants for the November 2004 will each receive a free SoCLite development board worth € 1000,- as a gift. The SoCLite Development Board is an exact equivalent of the final SoCLite device, including an FPGA that allows the integration of customer specific logic. SoCLite and SoCLite+ are based upon a complete ARM7TDMI microcontroller subsystem embedded in a gate array area. They feature a memory controller, an interrupt controller, a watchdog timer, a timer and a UART – making them an ideal starting point for an ARM7 based SoC design. Thus the engineer can build up and verify a complete system-on-chip before having any real silicon manufactured. The ‘ARM SoC Design Workshop’ sponsored by NEC Electronics Europe is taking place in Munich from November 22nd to 25th and will be presented by one of Doulos’ in-house ARM experts. The workshop combines tutorials with carefully designed exercises and includes Doulos’ renowned training materials. It covers the current ARM processor families, their associated instruction sets, embedded software development tools and the AMBA bus. It includes all the necessary background knowledge to integrate IP blocks into an existing ARM (AMBA) based system. In addition and unique to this NEC Electronics Europe sponsored course, delegates interested in finding out more about the SoCLite development environment can choose to attend an extra 5th day, run by an Applications Engineer from NEC Electronics. “At NEC Electronics Europe we are convinced that in-depth training from an experienced and reputable ARM Training Partner like Doulos, is very important for design engineers who are new to the ARM world. For these designers our SoCLite product is the ideal entry level product to the world of ARM SoCs. In combination with Doulos’ ARM SoC Design Workshop the SoCLite Development Board from NEC Electronics will facilitate the designers to put theory into practice” says Dr. Wolfgang Schmitt, Assistant Manager Product Management at NEC Electronics (Europe). Engineers wishing to find out more about the course and registration details should email Doulos at info.de@doulos.com. ARM7, ARM and Thumb are registered trademarks of ARM Limited.
