NEC Electronics introduces new low-cost 0.5 W GaAs switch ICs 0.05 to 3 GHz operating frequency ideal for communications and keyless applications DUESSELDORF, Germany, December 8, 2004 08 Dec 2004
NEC Electronics (Europe) introduced a new family of switch ICs for use in mobile communication, Bluetooth, short range W-LAN, mobile phone and other L- or S-band products. The new products add to NEC Electronics’ reputation for low-power switches and strengthen the company’s position as the preferred low-power switch supplier for major mobile communication customers worldwide. The new low-cost 1/2 W µPG2214TK/TB SPDT (single-pole/double-throw) dual-control voltage GaAs switch ICs offer outstanding performance over a wide frequency range (0.05 to 3 GHz). Other key features are low insertion loss and high isolation. Perfect for Bluetooth and mobile handsets, the µPG2214 is also ideal for bi-directional remote keyless entry, GPS antenna diversity switching and similar. In addition to great performance at 3 V, the µPG2214 is the first known SPDT on the market to deliver guaranteed performance down to 1.8 V control voltage. It thus operates off the same low supply voltage as many CMOS baseband chips. The device comes in two package types. The TK is a 6-pin lead-less minimold (1.1 x 1.5 x 0.55 mm) package, the TB a 6-pin super minimold (2.0 x 1.25 x 0.9 mm) package. The TB type is a drop-in replacement for several equivalent industry products. Both packages can be used for high-density surface mounting, and both are Pb-free.
