NEC Electronics and Dwight Cavendish Systems release the integration of DCS analogue copy protection into the EMMA series

NEC Electronics and Dwight Cavendish Systems (DCS) are pleased to announce the integration of DCS analogue copy protection into the EMMA series of devices from NEC Electronics. DCS analogue copy protection system uses patented copy protection strategies.

The EMMA family of MPEG decoder products from NEC Electronics deliver digital video in a system on a chip designed for the DVB and Satellite markets, Terrestrial, Cable, and IP, including Digital Video Recorder markets. Operators now have a choice of analogue copy protection solutions, from off the shelf solutions from NEC Electronics. The first device to integrate DCS technology is the NEC Electronics EMMA2SE/P, a secure MPEG2 SD DVR device.

DCS solutions offer, for the first time, analogue copy protection with a user friendly business model: no requirement of royalties to the MPEG device manufacturer or set top box maker. Studio commitments on analogue copy protection may now be met without obstacles. Analogue copy protection may be implemented as and when required by entering into an agreement with DCS.

Samples of EMMA devices supporting DCS are available today, with Mass Production available from Q4 2007.
