NEC Electronics provides the EM1 Turnkey Design based on “EMMA Mobile 1” SoC. The Turnkey Design is the complete SW and HW package prepared for connected, portable devices provided together with KWEST GmbH. The Connected Media Frame, as explained below, is one solution that can be built using the EM1 Turnkey Design. More information about this specific solution and the Turnkey Design is available through KWEST GmbH and NEC Electronics.
The „Connected Media Frame“ enables users to easily access and enjoy multimedia, communication and connect to the internet. The CMF is a smart home mobile nomadic device that gives you control over modern way of interaction with internet, mobile communication and entertainment. The CMF is the synergy of a Connected Digital Photo Frame and a Portable Media Player with rich connectivity features and control capabilities in one device.

NEC Electronics' Intelligent BufferIC platform "Tremolo" enables developers of portable, high-resolution display devices to unload the CPU from the task to continuously refresh the display contents, and to keep the application CPU in lowest power mode. Bandwidth requirements on the CPUs memory interface are drastically lowered, allowing to run new applications on the processor and extending the lifetime of lower performance, cost efficient processor platforms. The "Tremolo" Platform supports both today used high speed serial interface standards, MIPI and MDDI, to the CPU, and thus optionally allows the same Intelligent BufferIC and Display Module solutions to be used across different CPU platforms used by the OEM. With its highly efficient embedded DRAM technology, the Tremolo Intelligent BufferIC's allows the system designer today to connect cost efficient ramless display modules with resolutions ranging from WVGA or nHD up to WSXGA to any processor platform equipped with the industry standard MIPI DSI or MDDI interfaces, thus creating the basis for a widely scalable end user product platform.
Positioned between any industry standard application processor platform and display module, the intelligent BufferIC is ideally suited to integrate any kind of image enhancement algorithm, either customer specific or pre-developed by NEC Electronics. This ensures the same display user experience across the complete handheld product line up of an OEM, even when using different processor and display solutions.
As an example of such algorithm, NEC Electronics showcases the latest "Adaptive Gamma Control and Power Saving" (AGCPS) algorithm, as integrated in the latest off-the-shelf product derived from the Tremolo Platform: The "Tremolo-M" . The demonstration visualizes the impressive capability to reduce power consumption of a backlight display, while maintaining highest image quality. Even more, the advanced algorithm enables significant increase of the display readability under extremely bright ambient light conditions, like sun-shine.

In the last years mobile handsets evolved significantly by changing more and more to multimedia devices. This is in particular true for the camera capabilities of mobile devices. Positioned between any industry standard camera module and the platform processor, the Camera Engine devices are able to process high quality pictures up to 12Mpixel and high definition videos, such as HD1080p with 30 frames per second. It enables as well on mobile phones advanced camera functions such as image stabilization and high speed face detection.
Utilizing a scalable hardware and software architecture, the Camera Engine solution can be tailored to meet exactly the phone requirements. In order to achieve a short time to market, an expert team is dedicated to the image tuning and to the platform implementation support.
The demonstration will show the high definition video capability of the latest version of Camera Engine on the booth.
