NEC manufactures the advanced electron devices that comprise semiconductors and electronic components. In 1925, NEC first entered this field with the development of electron tubes, and in 1950 initiated its semiconductor business with transistor R&D.

Today, NEC has attained a top position in the semiconductor industry, with a well balanced product line-up ranging from memories to microcomputers, ASICs, linear integrated circuits (ICs), compound semiconductors and discrete semiconductors. To enable swift service for customers worldwide, NEC has established manufacturing facilities throughout Japan, Asia, the United States and Europe.
